Flooded basement woes

I wish that our water related adventure this week was as much fun as the fishing trip with the kids, but it just wasn't so. I woke up Monday morning and headed off to work only to find that the carpet in our basement was awfully squishy as I walked to my studio space to get my computer. Apparently, Sunday night the foundation of our house couldn't keep out all of the rain and let it seep through the up through the floor, which effectively ruined the carpet and laminate floor that Jenni and I installed less than a year ago. So Jenni, myself, and Dave (thanks Dave) spent all day Monday packing up all of our stuff that was stored in the basement, disconnecting my studio equipment and tearing (tearfully) out our like-new floors. It was a sad day in the Rinehart house, but so far we consider ourselves lucky that it didn't ruin the walls, my electronics, or anything else like it did for so many other people we know. Still it was a pretty gut wrenching day.
